Amazon’s ‘Adaptive Volume’ feature Leave a comment

Amazon is releasing a new function that enhances Alexa’s response volume automatically when it senses a busy background environment.

Adaptive Volume, as Amazon refers to it, will effectively attempt to ensure that consumers can hear Alexa’s responses above the regular home sounds of a washing machine, dishwasher, or maybe music on another speaker.

It will initially be available to Alexa users in the United States, with Amazon emphasizing that you may enable it simply by saying, “Alexa, switch on Adaptive Volume.”

Surprisingly, it’s unclear whether the feature works in reverse, with Alexa’s volume automatically reducing if only minor background noise is detected.

Alexa, on the other hand, already has Whisper Mode, which, as the name suggests, will match a quiet response to a quiet-spoken command.
